From my other blog…
This Easter I had the pleasure of spending part of my day with the friends and family of John Bul Dau; one of the “Lost Boys of Sudan”. His story was told in the Academy Award nominated documentary God Grew Tired Of Us. I didn’t exactly know his story before this and I only met him for a split second because he was late arriving and we needed to get to the airport. All I knew was that the family who was hosting the hunt (friends of my mothers) took him in a year or two after he arrived in America, and he became the son they never had. He now has a family of his own, a good job and is a productive, hard working (probably harder working than most Americans) member of society. Everyone there seemed so grateful for the things they were able to experience in this country and all the opportunities they had. We really take things for granted. I was just able to watch the documentary the other night and it’s an incredible story, I would suggest checking it out…
